On a windy morning, we headed out on a catamaran to see sights Captain Cook saw 300+ years ago. Out on a choppy sea, we viewed islands known to the Maori as sacred, and to the first Europeans here as home. We weren't able to go through the famous hole, due to the choppy sea, but we did marvel at the sight. An island stop let us explore and enjoy the sights of the day. Today the dolphins were no where to be found.
A lovely afternoon was heralded by warm sunshine, and a chance to pursue our own itineraries. Beach walks, hiking up the forested hill above Paihia, shopping, reading and even a brisk dip in the hotel pool were followed by another delicious buffet!
